  1. We had alovely time in the gorgeous B&B, and the breakfasts were excellent. Lewis and Gillian are lovely hosts

  2. We stayed at Salem Chapel for four days in May 2013, and were delighted with everything that this experience entailed.

Lewis and Gillian were thoughtful, friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts who listened to our needs and made suggestions about places to visit that enhanced our experience of being in the area. They took a genuine interest in us, our activities and (even banal!) observations.

We considered that the price charged for this accomodation was more than reasonable - and said so. The response - for which we were grateful beneficiaries, and with which we concur - was that it was more important to have happy customers than to fight over price.

The residence itself was extremely "sturdy", and decorated in craftworks created by both Lewis and Gillian. We stayed in two rooms during the period, and both were beautifully fitted out and comfortable. The breakfasts each morning were fresh, abundant and tasty, and served in a very pleasant area.

We doubt that we shall ever pass that way again, but if we do, we shall attempt to reacquaint ourselves with Lewis and Gilliian.

We apologise for this extremely belated review - we've been traveling for many months and have only just returned home (to Australia) - but don't consider it to be too late to thank you both again, and to wish you good fortune!

  3. I recently stayed at Salem along with friends Bob and Kath, and we all had a superb time. Salem is a beautifully restored chapel with the inside converted to a two-storey building. The conversion has been done very tastefully; both Gill and Lewis are artists and the work reflects their many talents in painting and woodcarving. The accommodation is first-class and the breakfasts were excellent. The surrounding area is very beautiful and Gill and Lewis will give you many suggestions on where to go and what to do. Ideally situated for the whole of Snowdonia, plenty of wildlife and the Welsh Highland Railway passes the front window. Caernarfon is about 15 minutes away by car. Thoroughly recommended!

  4. We have recently stayed at Salem Chapel B&B for a second time and will almost certainly be staying there again. Gill and Lewis make you feel very welcome in their beautifully restored property. The accommodation is spacious and spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are excellent. From the property there are lovely views across the valley to the mountains beyond and it is an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia and the nearby coast. We would certainly recommend Salem Chapel to anyone who was looking for B&B in this area.

  5. We have had a wonderful stay at Salem Chapel B+B and have highly recommened it to our friends and family, in addition to being at the top of our list for visiting again. The chapel has recently been refurbished to a high standard, which could be clearly seen in our beautiful bedroom and en-suite, which has also been decorated with lovely art work created by Gill. The B+B is situated in a peaceful area, where the river flows through a nature reserve and on the nearby hillside, the steam train can be seen making it's journey from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, which we highly recommend a trip on. The B+B is in an excellent location for visiting towns and attractions, where the hosts, Gill and Lewis are very helpful in providing information on additional places.

Excellent accomodation that we encourage those who visit Wales to stay in, you will definately not be disappointed. Just a little thank you to Gill and Lewis for an amazing stay!!

  6. Salem Chapel B&B truly feels like worlds away from anywhere. The area is truly breath-taking with mountains everywhere you turn, lakes, rivers, forests, wildlife and the private Nature Reserve, we saw lots of bats, swallows and birds of prey. The owners of Salem Chapel B&B, Gill and Lewis, are lovely and welcoming, with lots of knowledge of the area they are always available to offer helpful advice and a cup of tea. During our stay we found that we were just as besotted with this little Chapel as the beautiful wilderness surrounding it. Gill and Lewis have adorned every space with their works of restored antique furniture, d├ęcor and paintings, there is detail and character everywhere and every room feels luxurious, welcoming, cosy and full of interest, quality and clean down to the detail. The view from our window was of Elephant Mountain, the Nature Reserve and The Welsh Highland Railway where occasionally we would see and hear the whistle of an old steam train go past up on the hill which was really romantic. At night we could see every star in the sky, and it really was a beautiful sight, we spotted a shooting star, constellations and a Satellite. During our stay at Salem Chapel B&B we visited Snowdonia Riding Stables for a ride which is a short drive away, the beautiful village of Beddgelert which is also very close and Dolbadarn Castle in nearby Llanberis. Next time we will climb Mount Snowdon as Salem Chapel is only around the corner from the Ranger Path. Overall our trip to this area of Snowdonia and Salem Chapel B&B was truly amazing and unforgettable, there is so much to do and see, and we were constantly captivated everywhere we went. It was great having such a comfortable and welcoming place to come back to after each adventure, we cannot wait to return! Thank You! :)

  7. Our family stayed at the B&B May 2011 and had a fabulous time. The hosts Gill and Lewis made us feel as though we were staying with family - they showed us around the nature reserve and gave us some top tips for exploring the mountain (Rhud ddu path) and local area (Portmeirion, Betsy coed, Llanerris etc). Breakfast was lovely and the rooms 4star. Thank you Gill and Lewis!
